The “Costa that shines”
The east coast of the Island of Elba was in the past an important mining area, the numerous mines and the remains of piers testify to its activity since ancient times.
The open-air quarries are characterized by an earth made red by iron oxide and the same dust, present on some beaches and in the seabed, gives this area of the Island of Elba a unique feature, a natural spectacle that we can admire only on these beaches and in the seabed that seem to sparkle under the rays of the sun.
